Google Wave

Google Wave is the next big thing for online communication. Currently in the preview stage Wave is billed as the replacement for email. In the corporate World keeping track of and informing people on the progress of projects and suchlike has resulted in the cultures of CCing every man and his dog onto email. The result of this is information apathy and overload. What Google Wave seeks to do is make the communication a single stream that interested parties can join monotor, enhance and replay. This single wave of information approach means no more loaded inboxes and a central point to manage project type information.

Involved News's is interested in Wave for enhancing its user interaction by embedding wave throughout the website in order for people to exchange ideas, discuss information and create new articles. Unfortunately Wave is not suitably advanced to put controls in place to manage unruly users or lock waves down in order to maintain a degree of control.

This page has been setup as an example of how Wave could work in a news discussion environment, if you have a Wave login please have a play, but beware that Google Wave does not currently have the sort of audit capability to control content.
